The Uptown Lounge

Known by many as the go-to-girl for all news, Andrea Brown is a young communications professional and entrepreneur ready to take on the world of entertainment.

Hailing from Missouri City,  a suburb on the South West side of Houston, Texas, Brown has always had a thirst for knowledge and an insatiable hunger for music. She began her quest in the world of journalism as a freshman in high school, in a Media magnet program. Since then, she’s written, reported, and managed social media for organizations like NBC, Post Newsweek, WEEN (Women In Entertainment Empowerment Network) and FINT NY. In May 2011, she was selected to participate in an exclusive program that allowed her to travel to France to work as a public relations assistant at the Cannes Film Festival, the largest film festival in the world.

As a graduate of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications on the campus of Hampton University, Brown is a budding entrepreneur; demonstrated in her position as the lead content curator at The Uptown Lounge, an urban entertainment blog that she founded in her junior year at Hampton. The Uptown Lounge has afforded Andrea the opportunity to work as an independent correspondent covering various concerts and events like the Sprite Step Off, and the 2011 BET Awards. In the coming months, she will formally launch Gifted Media, a multi-faceted firm that will allow her to use her public relations, marketing and branding prowess to help businesses deliver their messages to the world.

Andrea also dedicates her time to writing a personal blog, 1 Pretty Brown Girl. In her spare time, she enjoys attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
