Beyonce knows the importance of using her platform for good. That’s evidenced in her partnership with the United Nations in their quest to reach 1 Billion people for World Humanitarian Day on August 19th.
Before filming the video for her song “I Was Here” (a song she’s dedicating to World Humanitarian Day, and donating all proceeds from it’s sale to the campaign) she sat down with CNN’s Anderson Cooper to explain what the song means, and why she’s chosen to use her influence to make a positive impact on the world.
This interview airs just a few short days after legendary actor and humanitarian Harry Belafonte called Beyonce and Jay-Z out for their lack of social responsibility. So, yeah, there’s that.
Find out how you can leave your mark on World Humanitarian Day by visiting the official campaign website, and catch part two of this interview when Anderson’s daytime talk show premieres next week.
