It’s been a little over two years since singer/songwriter Janelle Monáe released her major label debut “The Archandroid Suites II and III” via Bad Boy Records.
Since then, she’s been performing in venues around the globe, and even scored her first number one single with her appearance on fun.‘s multi-platinum hit “We Are Young”.
Aside from her music, Monáe has always been known for her signature style. You’ve seen her perfect pompadour and her penchant for tuxedos. Now, in celebration of her beauty, she’s been named as one of the new iconic faces of CoverGirl cosmetics.
“I believe in the idea of every woman finding their own beauty superpowers,” she says, sounding ever so slightly like Cindi Mayweather—the futuristic musical alter ego she made famous on her best-selling 2010 album, The ArchAndroid—for a moment. “I want to help redefine what it means to be a strong woman in the music and fashion worlds.” [SOURCE]
I think she can do just that. She’s already well on her way! Check out this behind the scenes video from her CoverGirl shoot here:
