The 30th Olympiad has brought a great deal of firsts! The latest comes at the hands of 17 year old Claressa Shields who just won the United States’ first Gold Medal in Women’s Boxing.
By default, Claressa is also the first African American woman to accomplish this feat, as this is also the first time that women’s boxing has been contested in the Olympic games. Way to go, girl! You’ve made your country so proud!
