Trouble the Water…

trouble_the_waterIt’s still Black History Month for one more week, so I’d like to call your attention to one of the most powerful films that I’ve ever seen. Honestly, it is so much more than Black History, it deals with what is arguably one of the most tragic and devastating events in recent American History.

Although many of us witnessed the destruction of Hurricane Katrina from our own homes, this documentary “Trouble the Water” takes you inside the lives of those who were hit the hardest in the Lower 9th Ward of the city.

“Trouble the Water”  has received rave reviews from critcs, won awards at the Sundance film festival, and was nominated for an Oscar this year. If you get a chance, please support this film. You can check out the trailer below.

Please remember that it is still a constant struggle to rebuild New Orleans. In keeping with the Oscar theme, please check out the Pink House Project, created by Academy Award Nominee Brad Pitt with his Make it Right in New Orleans Foundation. Each of us have to do our part to make our communities and our country greater. See what you can do.
